I have yet to fully understand the reason that my "spelling standards" are also at issue here because as far as I know, none of my critics has accused me of inventing the dictionary. There are over 1 million Romanies (popularly but inaccurately called "gypsies") living in the US. They're an ethnic minority with their own customs, culture & language. Not all "gypsies" lie, steal, and cheat. There are good Romanies & bad Romanies..just as their are good, hard-working white people & bad, hard-working white people. One would never be so daring as to make a website informing others of "Hispanic scams" or "Jewish scams" - so why is it acceptable to make a wesbite about "Gypsy scams?" There are many hard-working honest Romanies & to accuse 1 ethnic minorty of such actions is absurd. My Views I will no doubt appear cruel, but I can no longer restrain myself when criticized by such illogical and silly people.  For those who wish to view me as their enemy, and who endeavor to discredit anything I have to report, then here’s some advice.  For starters, unless you enjoy publicly humiliating yourself, proofread what you write before posting it on the Internet.  In doing this, you might avoid absurd comparisons, poor grammar, and spelling errors.  To say that, “[t]heir are good, hard-working white people & bad, hard-working white people,” [sic]  does little to enhance your image. Then, too, you need to ask yourself why, of all the races within the American culture, you chose to use white people as a comparison.  Using your approach to life, one might assume that you are a racist because you think that whites set the standards that everyone else must live by.  Perhaps you intended no such thing, but I just wanted you to see how easily your self-righteous attitudes can come back to haunt you. Another good practice is to read what your opponent has written, and then attack the items you find offensive.  By reacting to material that does not exist, or by inserting creations of your own making and then attacking your opponent for something he or she never said, only serves to portray you as something less than an intelligent person worthy of any serious attention.  Above all else, check your facts!  You’ll never gain points by calling your opponent ignorant, followed by a demonstration of how little you know about the topic.  In the present case, there are a few errors: 1.  No one knows how many Roma or Gypsies there are in the United States.  The “over 1 million” statement is not even a good guess let alone a fact. 2.  Neither Gypsies nor Roma are a recognized minority in the US.  Even if they occupied this status, it does nothing to change how the criminal groups make a living? 3. The belief that there are no web sites dealing with crimes committed by members within other ethnic groups is wrong.  Examples of those sites appear on this web site, however the critic’s never comment on them.  (see site link) 4. To claim that it is inaccurate to call any Rom a Gypsy is, how can I say it --- inaccurate.  Perhaps the critics missed the many pages wherein it refers to Roma who Call Themselves Gypsies!   (see site example here.) Many other critics have said the Romani people have a right to call themselves anything they want.  Well, there are groups of Roma who engage in criminal activities and who chose to call themselves Gypsies – so how hard should that be to accept? Although there are other personal details about you that I am aware of Karoline, I will refrain from listing them because it serves no purpose.  What I am unable to determine is what makes you so knowledgeable about the Gypsy/ Romani topic, or where you get the erroneous information that you now attempt to disguise as fact.  In any case, I will now provide the readers with examples of your character assassinations, your hypocrisy, and your misguided attempts to correct problems that you really do not understand. THE ATTACK Here are Karoline’s comments in response to a news article, wherein the investigating police officer dared to use the word Gypsy when describing a band of thieves who were preying on the elderly.  I responded to her original comments, wherein she classified the news article as racist, and Karoline in turn emailed me with her concerns.  I responded back and asked her some questions about how she arrived at her opinions.  Rather than reply back to me via email, she instead launched an all out smear campaign against me using various web sites, blogs, and book review arenas.  Here’s Karoline’s article:  (Again, Ms. Schneeberger’s comments are highlighted in blue.) ARTICLE SOURCE  (CBS 8 San Diego, California) “As for Dennis, he specifically, repeatedly targets the Romani people for degradation and defamation in his writings and crime / fraud prevention speeches.”   You don’t cite the location of these evil attacks because they don’t exist.  And to my knowledge you have never attended any of my fraud prevention presentations because if you did, then it is unlikely that you would now be so uninformed.   I would really like to know where on my web site you discovered attacks against the “Romani” people.  If, which is unlikely, you intend to intelligently reply to the questions asked of you, then read the site you now condemn, and please take notice of the clear distinctions drawn between Roma and the criminal groups who  “call themselves Gypsies.”  I say this because of your on-again off-again insistence on treating these two words as if they are synonymous.  They are not.        Many of his book links on the Internet lead back to Neo - Nazi themed hate blogs and racist hate sites.  Many of these hate sites offer his books as recommended reading to support their neo Nazi hate ideology agenda.   Again, I am not aware of any such sites, but even if some do exist, how is that my responsibility?  My books, like those of any other author, are available to everyone.  By the way, there are numerous law enforcement sites, colleges, victim advocacy groups and other non-racist non-Nazi sites that recommend my books.  What are we to make of that Karoline?  I suppose they are all racist Nazis by proxy.  And while on the topic, you also accused me of being a white supremacist.  For the record, I have supervised undercover officers who have put their asses on the line during attempts to put White supremacist groups where they belong—in prison.  So please spare me and other police officers from your apparent ignorance and ill-founded beliefs.     On his fraud prevention website (fraudtech) alone, he mentions "GYPSIES" in regard to being responsible for crime over 95 times. Roma 16 times, yet all other ethnic, racial and organized crime groups, including the MAFIA, less than 5 times each.   Go figure, I actually used the word Gypsy and Gypsies lots of times on a topic that covered Gypsy criminal group activities.  Only you, Karoline, can explain what, if any, point was supposed to be made with this incredible discovery.  Please don’t give up your day job to become an investigator. The fact is; US crime statistics show that the Romani people are responsible for over all crime in such minuscule percentages that they can’t be assigned a classification or numerical value.   The real “fact” is that you are just plain ignorant, a liar or both.  Trust me on this one; there are no such statistics in existence.  Since there is no classification in law enforcement reports for either Romani or Gypsy, then how is it that you can say that they only represent a small percentage of the overall crime rate?  You can’t but you did.  Then, too, you can bet that if such a classification did exist, you and others like you would call it racist and unfair.      Dennis is attempting to create the illusion that the Romani people ("Gypsies") are a significant criminal threat to the people of the United States of America.  I believe that he does this to further his own racists agenda, to stimulate books sales, and to nurture the demand for his "crime and fraud prevention" speaking engagements.  [sic] What illusion? I have always stated up front where my information comes from, how it can be verified, and why attempting to apply the racist word to my work might make you feel better, but nevertheless lacks any proof of such allegations---and you know it.   And I am always amazed by non-authors like you who actually believe that the average writer makes lots of money on any of their books.  We don’t.  As for my profitable speaking engagements, I don’t get paid for any of them.  If you have evidence to the contrary, please let us have it so others can be impressed by your skills at gathering damaging evidence.   As for this ‘illusion” you reference, you really must tell us how many of the victims you have personally interviewed.  Did the victims of the crimes attributed to the Gypsy criminal groups tell you that they did not really care who entered their homes and terrorized them?  Did these victims, mostly elderly, say that they enjoyed having these thieves take their life savings, or to being bound and gagged while these thugs looted their house?  Did any of these victims tell you that they were upset with those awful “racist cops” who carried out their job and actually made it more difficult for these criminal groups to operate?  Did they agree with your views on this topic?  Or, did you not feel it important to take any of these victims into account because it does not fit into your feelings about the topic? The world population of Romani people is so tiny that making them a mark for anything nefarious and evil  - is past ridiculous.   Really?  Then please share with us these otherwise non-existent population statistics. Truth is that no one, absolutely no one has anything even close to an accurate estimate as to how many Romani people there are, or to how many among them call themselves Gypsies.  In essence, the only thing “past ridiculous” here, is your pretending to know what the hell you’re talking about. Dennis boasts to be an expert in "Gypsy" crime and Romani affairs.  First off - there is no significant Romani crime element in Milwaukee!  And since Wisconsin is second only to Missouri in neo - Nazi activity and membership, it would be safe to assume that any bona fide "Gypsy" would do well to stay away from both the state and the city where Dennis claims to have gathered his vast "expert" knowledge.   Fist of all, how is it that you seem to know my city better than me.  Are you a psychic?  I was born here, lived here my entire life (and that’s a long time) and have worked with the Gypsy criminal element for over three decades.  As for my boasting, as you choose to view it, your facetious comment tells me that your only expertise on this topic is your opinion.  You can be modest about it, but what are your credentials?  Just how is it that you seem privy to information otherwise unavailable to the masses? He wrote a true crime novel titled, Hastened To The Grave, The Gypsy Murder Investigation(Published 1998)  His true crime novel chronicles the true story of the unimaginable murders committed by various Gypsy families against elderly residents in California and New York.  You really must read this book, and then tell us what racist white supremacist group you believe the late Mr. Olsen belonged to, or how the private investigator in the book, Fay Faron, falls into the category of racist bigot.  Ms. Faron, a private investigator, is the founder of a group called Elder Angels.   Did you happen to notice that my book about the gypsy criminal groups was coauthored by a tenured cultural anthropologist from Marquette University?  Professor John Dowling never seems to get mentioned by people like you.  I guess it’s a lot harder to attack college professors than it is cops.  John spent a lifetime studying various cultures and always employed a cultural relativistic approach when interacting with these various cultures. CLOSING COMMENT In all, regardless of evidence to the contrary, people like Karoline absolutely refuse to consider the possibility that there might be more to any given topic than they realize.  In clinging to what they feel is right, they abandon anything that resembles logical thought and instead resort to ad hominem attacks and constant efforts to redefine words to suit their beliefs.  Seldom do these people ever read what they’ve written.  If they did, then how could they possibly come up with things like, I hate people like Marlock who spread hate against the Romani people.  In this example of twisted logic, it’s okay that they hate because they apparently use hate in a good way.  Here’s another classic, “Marlock is not an intentional racist, but a racist nevertheless.”  This brilliant proclamation is brought into play when discovering that there is absolutely no racist material on my web site, in my books, or in my presentations.  If I were to mimic their harebrained version of intelligent reasoning, I would have to say that some of my critics are not intentionally irritating, illogical nincompoops, but are nonetheless ignorant, irritating, illogical nincompoops. Stupid Crime Victims Guest Book Comments by Hilda Schultheiss It seems the KKK from Texas found a new race to blame and hate. The Romas (Gypsies). The unhappy citizens of Texas are blaming the Gypsies for every crime done in USA. The crimes that supposed to be done by the Romas are the following: When a Roma falls down in the shop and claiming insurance for the injury it is considered by the Texans as a crime; It's said, the Roma put the object front of him/herself to fall down deliberately to claim insurance. If the airport loses the baggage of a Roma and they are claiming compensation, again it is considered a fraud. It was also telling to notice that Hilda, quick to accuse others of harboring racist thoughts, would be so bold, or verbally reckless, as to lump members of the “KKK” and “unhappy citizens of Texas” into one nasty group.
