Use The below links to obtain information that will greatly reduce your chances of falling prey to con artists and others who specialize in victimizing older adults.

The information contained in this section is intended to spare you, your family and friends, from falling prey to con artists and others who make a living by victimizing older adults. As for the accuracy of the information here, all of it is based on my experience as a law enforcement officer. During my career, I had the privilege of working on our Department’s Senior Citizen Assault Prevention task force. Being the first unit of its kind in the nation, we invested many hours researching and testing various crime prevention programs. Many of those programs are now used as a law enforcement model both here in the US and abroad.

Our greatest source of accurate information came from people just like you. Odd as it might appear, many programs intended to help older adults are based on what the potential service providers view as the problem, and not on any input from the people they hoped to assist. Although our unit made the same mistake, we soon learned the value of working closely with older adults during our efforts to keep them out of harm’s way.
